This weekend, knives and axes throwers from all over France, and even farther away, were in Kernevez, in the municipality of Grâces, to compete in the last national tournament of the year 2018. Knives and Golden axes of the year have been handed out.
Saturday, September 29 and Sunday, September 30, 2018, 45 knives and axes throwers clashed on the site of the Celtic Circle, established in Kernevez, in Graces (Côtes-d’Armor).
“This is the last of the five opens of the season, and we have their club launchers from Alsace, Normandy, Vitré, Lyon, Montpellier, the Paris region and also from Belgium,” says Jean-Yves Gautier, president from the local club.
“This is the most beautiful training site in France”, appreciate the competitors, including Alsatian Pascal Bebon, world champion with the axe and French champion knife.
“He has several shots covered, which allows members to train all year,” said the latter.
Jacqueline Boof makes double blow
The competition has awarded his cups and medals, but as the last competition of the season, he has also awarded the Golden Knife and the Golden Hatch, awarding the best pitchers of the year 2018 league championship, on the five national tournaments played.
In men, the Golden Knife goes to Pascal Bebon and the Golden Ax to Jean-Yves Gautier. For women, Jacqueline Boof, treasurer and trainer at the local club, gets both awards.
The Celtic Knife Thrower Circle is affiliated with the French Sports Federation of Double Ax and Tomahawk. It offers two trainings a week on Wednesdays from 4 to 6 pm and Saturdays from 10 am to 12 pm.
The training is provided by Jean-Yves Gautier and Jacqueline Boof and the practice is accessible from 16 years. During the discovery phase, the club lends blades, and everyone must equip himself if he decides to continue.
